Check out What the Exciting Hiking Trails Los Angeles Have to Offer

With distinct climatic zones and an absolutely fascinating geology, the hiking trails Los Angeles offer the perfect hike experience, cherished by both new and polished hikers. What further makes these trails a heaven for hiking is the year round perfect weather and the close wilderness areas that offer a once in a lifetime interaction experience with the beautiful creation of nature. In this post today I would like to share my knowledge and experience of some of the best Los Angeles hikes (in my opinion).

The Sturtevant Falls Hike

Being so close to such a hugely populated area, this trail is an extravagant trail, offering of a jungle like experience. The route is lined by several rustic cabins, built in the early years of the 1900s, before the area was declared a national forest. Though they are used purely for recreational purposes, however they do add on to the feel of the area.

The trail is situated in the heart of the gigantic Santa Anita Canyon. The cascading water of the falls flow over from 50 feet above attracting several tourists and hikers annually. The hike trail offers splendid and luxuriant riparian and deep chaparral scenery that is worth the visit. The creek side too offers rich views of sparkling water dancing under a vast covering of bay, oak, alder, willow and spruce.

Griffith Park Hike

Griffith Park is the largest urban park of US spreading over 4,071 acres of land, in the second largest US city.  Griffith Park offers several attractions and landmarks including the Hollywood sign that stands on the Mount Lee

The Griffith Park – Hollywood sign hike (The holyridge trail) had been closed for the last 10 months; although the authorities claimed initially it will be reopened in 5 weeks. The closure was owed to proper management of the area.

Hike trails in the Griffith park area are open year round. The spring allow visitors to enjoy moderate temperatures and green hillsides, while the spring offer changing leaves paired with wildflower blooms. The summers are scorching and so early morning or late evening visits are recommended.

Griffith park besides the famed Hollywood sign also offer some other marvelous hike trails including Burbank Peak, Cahuenga peak Brush canyon, Griffith Observatory, Glendale Peak Beacon hill, Beerock and Old Zoo trails. Griffith Park besides the wonderful day hikes, also offers some interesting night activities, out of which a famous one includes star gazing in Griffith Park and the observatory.

Eaton Canyon Falls Hike

This incredible canyon fall is 40 ft tall filling in the Amphitheatre situated at the top of the trail. The water falls in a waist deep wide pool where you can either wade in or even enjoy the view on the sides. The trail is a round, 3.5 miles walk with a slight elevation gain of 375 ft. Take your sunscreens along as plenty of sun will be encountered in the way and only a few thickets of shades.

All in all Los Angeles has a lot to offer in terms of hiking and natural atmospheres and summing them all in one post is almost impossible. Covering it all in a single visit is impossible too and so until next time, try out these wonderful hiking trails Los Angeles and let me know about your experience.
